Ron earned his Bachelor of Science from Lincoln University in 1982 before going on to earn his Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia. He relocated to Arizona and was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in 1986, launching a career in public defense that would shape his approach to criminal law for the next four decades.
Ron opened the Wood Law Office in 1993 after serving eight years as a public defender in Arizona’s Northern tier counties, where he handled a high volume of criminal cases in Mohave and Navajo counties. That foundation, trying cases day in and day out in rural Arizona courtrooms, gave him the trial instincts and practical knowledge that continue to define his work today.
Over the decades, Ron has handled serious and at times high-profile criminal cases, earning a reputation among peers and clients as a tenacious advocate who prepares every matter as if it is going to trial. His long record of results reflects a commitment to hard work, thorough investigation, and an unwavering focus on protecting his clients’ rights.
Ron is a board member of Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice (AACJ), Arizona’s leading organization advocating for criminal defense attorneys and the accused. Through AACJ, he contributes to the ongoing work of criminal justice reform and the protection of constitutional rights in Arizona.
He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), keeping him engaged with developments in criminal defense practice at the national level.
